As part of its commitment to improving food security and supporting vulnerable communities, Eimaar Humanitarian Aid and Development Organization (Eimaar) successfully implemented its Qurbani Project during Eid al-Adha. The project combined the spiritual significance of Qurbani with a humanitarian mission: providing nutritious food to families affected by conflict, displacement, and poverty across Sudan.
Funding provided by Sudan Relief; implementation carried out by Eimaar.
The project was carried out during the first three days of Eid al-Adha, in accordance with Islamic guidelines. Cows were sacrificed, with each cow representing seven Qurbani shares. All of the meat was distributed free of charge to vulnerable households, including women, children, older people, internally displaced people (IDPs), refugees, and low-income families.
Each household received an average of 5 kg of fresh meat, a valuable source of protein that can sustain a family of four for up to three weeks. The meat was prepared and packaged in a culturally appropriate way, respecting local dietary preferences and the dignity of every recipient.
Through this initiative, Eimaar helped alleviate food insecurity, improve access to essential nutrition, and enable donors to fulfill their religious obligation while making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable Sudanese families.
